Harems pay off for Muslims

February 9, 2008

As if Canadians and Americans didn’t already have enough problems with “diversity” in marriage proclivities: demands for “gay marriage”; serial polygamy for a sizeable proportion of today’s society, accompanied by single-parent “families” often living in poverty and on welfare; vast numbers of black children deserted by their fathers; traditional Mormons (LDS) in polygamous “marriages” in British Columbia, Utah or Arizona, with many of the extra wives and children on welfare, as well.

Now Canada and Britain, in their enthusiasm for giving away both country and culture, have invited in immigrants from the Third World who engage in polygamy as a totally accepted practice under Islam, and, not surprisingly, take full advantage of the welfare systems. Notice in this article how government officials get all tangled up in themselves trying to figure out what to do about cultural difference (as opposed to just saying, “No!”)

Islamic leaders: Hundreds in GTA [Greater  Toronto Area] get extra welfare for polygamous unions.

Hundreds of GTA Muslim men in polygamous marriages -- some with a harem of wives -- are receiving welfare and social benefits for each of their spouses, thanks to the city and province, Muslim leaders say.

Mumtaz Ali, president of the Canadian Society of Muslims, said wives in polygamous marriages are recognized as spouses under the Ontario Family Law Act, providing they were legally married under Muslim laws abroad.

"Polygamy is a regular part of life for many Muslims," Ali said yesterday. "Ontario recognizes religious marriages for Muslims and others."

He estimates "several hundred" GTA husbands in polygamous marriages are receiving benefits. Under Islamic law, a Muslim man is permitted to have up to four spouses.

However, city and provincial officials said legally a welfare applicant can claim only one spouse. Other adults living in the same household can apply for welfare independently.  [more]
