Video re Freedom of Speech in Canada
February 15, 2008
This intriguing You-Tube video is the first of several segments of Ezra Levant's increasingly well-known appearance before the "Canadian Human Rights Commission" defending freedom of speech. This is a case, along with that of Maclean's magazine and Marc Steyn, in which Jews' freedom to make statements deemed offensive by Muslims is being infringed. (Levant republished the Danish cartoons of Mohammed.) The publicity it has received in Canada contrasts with the years' of persecution of Canadian non-Jews for making statements deemed offensive to minorities by the CHRC thought police. This so-called "hate" speech is notoriously ignored by the establishment media but is well documented by CAFE, the Canadian Association for Free Expression.
