Israel's UN ambassador calls Jimmy Carter 'a bigot'

April 25, 2008

Eds. The Jimmy Carter is "a bigot" comment of the Israeli ambassador is clearly an attempt to interpret Jimmy Carter's actions within a traditional Jewish ideology of anti-Semitism rather than in the context of international relations and  human rights. For example, China has been recently been heavily criticized for human rights abuses. But not even the Chinese accuse these critics of anti-Chinese bigotry.

To call it bigotry is to make a special claim — that the long history of anti-Semitism gives Israel a unique sacrosanct status which makes it immune from normal scrutiny.

And it makes people who have the temerity to make such charges into anti-Semites worthy of being consigned to the lowest regions of Hell. Indeed, the fanatically pro-Israel Frontpagemag.com  has pulled out all the stops in its campaign against Carter. Check out Jimmy Carter's War Against the Jews. Great photo of Carter. Political propaganda at its worst. [article]
